What are People Saying About Our Trainings?

  • We have been providing training in DBT since 2012 and so far, 100% of previous participants have stated they would recommend our trainings to friends or colleagues!

  • 100% of past participants found their instructor to be “extremely engaging”!

Super knowledgeable trainers, with a variety of approaches to and interpretations of the concepts/tools in individual DBT sessions. The instructors make a very intimidating program feel intuitive and easy to learn in small bites.
— Elements of DBT Participant, March 2024
I feel like a more effective/competent counselor as a result of this training. I highly recommend this training if you want to add skills/tools to your counseling repertoire. The training was fun, informative, and interactive. I am truly thankful to have experienced this training.
— Nicholas Volling, MSW
I would highly recommend any clinician to take the 3 DBT trainings offered by StlDBT! They not only help you to feel competent in teaching DBT skills, but also set you up for joining a consultation group with your training cohort. The trainers are dynamic and keep you engaged through all 6 days of training. I cannot say enough how much I enjoyed these, and all of the information given to us!
— Brandy, MSW, LCSW
I am extremely cautious when it comes to attending trainings offered by independent/private clinicians. So much so, I elected to only register for the first training, forgoing the bundled discount, not knowing how valuable this training would be. Following the first session, I immediately committed to completing the additional three sessions. Casey and Adrianne are beyond knowledgeable. Their dedication and commitment to this work and their clients is evident from the start. I left all four sessions with tools I could implement into practice immediately. I left the final session with an excitement to continue to grow my DBT skills and knowledge. This is a training well worth your time and investment.

Clinical and Non-Clinical Trainings for Your Organization

We offer training in Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) as a therapeutic modality in a clinical setting. We also utilize DBT philosophies and skills to improve workplace relationships and help organizations create healthier environments for employees and staff.

Cultivating the Healthy Workplace

A healthy workplace goes beyond masks and social distancing. Healthy work environments are those where staff from the top to the entry level understand and agree to certain organizational values and norms. Employees are offered opportunities to thrive and management knows how to handle conflict.

We offer trainings that assist organizations to come together in open dialogue about healthy work practices that foster communication, increase personal capability to cope with constructive criticism, regulate emotions in intense or stressful situations, and improve focus and attention to tasks.

Available workshops include:

  • In this 2 hour workshop, teams of employees and/or management work together to translate an evidence-based and highly effective set of proposed workplace agreements into their own organizational value system.

  • In this 3 hour workshop, your trainer will share some immediately useable skills that individuals can use in the workplace to reduce stress and communicate more effectively.

This is a 2 part program where our trainer works with your staff for two 3 hour sessions spaced 1-3 months apart. Participants will receive weekly emails to help them apply what they learn to their daily practice.

  • Emotionally sensitive people often feel out of place in some work settings - like a tulip in a rose garden. They may feel invalidated or discounted in the workplace where rational thought and emotional control are rewarded over empathy and sensitivity. We have programming to help support emotionally sensitive employees regulate emotional reactions at work and for emotionally over-controlled folks to learn how to validate and value their sensitive counterparts.

Clinical Trainings for Dialectical Behavior Therapy

DBT is a comprehensive treatment that includes behavioral skills training, individual therapy, between-session coaching, and ongoing therapist consultation. The model was first created to treat people with suicidal and self-injurious urges and behaviors and has since been found to be highly effective for many mental health issues, including depression, anxiety, substance abuse, eating disorders, and more.

At St. Louis DBT, it is our mission to make this model accessible to everyone. Part of that mission means educated professionals about DBT and how to do it.

Available training in DBT include:

  • In this 1 hour workshop, perfect for your organization’s in-service meeting or as a graduate level class guest speaker, your trainer will introduce you to DBT’s philosophies, interventions, and skills.

  • We offer introduction to DBT trainings for school counselors that range from 3 hours to 2 day workshops. Participants will learn tangible and immediately usable techniques to use when working with emotionally dysregulated kids.
